Standing on the ground where it all begins

In this video, Pastor Hendrik Van Deventer founding pastor of Vida Church Linden stands on the actual property at 42 7th Street and shares his heart for The Stand. Hendrik, along with Rudolph Wiggett and other community volunteers, is driving this initiative. The Stand is not a church project it is a community initiative, open to all. Contributions go directly to the build fund, ring-fenced for the specific phase underway. Phase 1: the pickleball court.

About the Initiating Community

Vida Church Linden

The Stand was born from a vision within the Vida Church community a Gospel-centred family rooted in Linden, Johannesburg. Vida's heartbeat, drawn from Zechariah 11:16, is to "Care for the lost, Seek the Young, Heal the injured, Feed the Healthy." The Stand is a direct expression of that mission serving the broader community of Linden, not any single congregation.

Vida was founded in 2022 by Pastor Hendrik Van Deventer and his family, beginning with small gatherings in a living room in Linden. Today it gathers weekly at Pinnacle College, Linden. The name Vida means life in Latin — and life, in all its fullness, is what The Stand is about.
